Winter Walking


Winter walking Around St. Michael is a beautiful experience. You can hear the crackle of the snow under your shoes, discover animal tracks in the snow and breathe plenty of fresh air into your lungs. You may find a bench which is not completely snowed under, in order to enjoy an included lunch.

 St. Michael – Fell
A walk of around 6 km, being easy to medium, can be icy. The start is at the pool and on the way you can visit different places for a drink or some food. You can also shorten the walk. Its duration can be 1 to 5 hours.

St Michael – St Margarethen

A walk of about 7 km, this is easy to walk. The start is at the guesthouse and goes along the mur St Margarethen. Along the way you can visit the golf course to grab some food or drink. When the cross-country trails are groomed, you can take the footpath next to the trail. You can come back by bus. Duration: 1.5 h.


Katschberg – Pritzhütte

A walk of 8 km, this is easy to walk. The start is on the Katschberg and you head towards Landellgreenpark / pizzeria Stampl under the tunnel to Alpengasthof Bacher. At the end you will find the beautifully situated Pritzhütte. Return the same way, if you can take the carriage fee. Katschberg can be reached by ski bus from  infront of the inn.

Duration: 2 hours.

From the ski center in Mauterndorf you can take different ways on the Speiereck walk to St Michael. Please note that the walks are not always prepared well. You stop at different huts on the way for some food or drink. Duration: 1.5 to 3.5 hours.
